THE TEAM

JOHN BROCKLEBANK

A native of Utah, John had the taste for horses at a young age. His talents at American Football saw him play on a scholarship at Utah State and make the All State Team but he turned his back on a promising sporting career to forge a career with horses. This experience as a high level athlete would prove to be one of the keys to his future success in the equine industry.

Initially preparing quarter horses, John was able to draw on sports science and apply this to horses and when combined with his acute eye for an athletic type of horse, he began to make waves. Treating horses like an Olympic athlete has been one of the main inputs in his success.

After 20 years with quarter horses, John began to follow the results that thoroughbred pinhookers were achieving so decided to turn his hand to this form of training utilizing the same principles. Following the outstanding success of his first draft, his horses became well known as being fully educated, sound and fast and the larger training establishments began to jostle to secure his youngsters.

After being initially approached to attend the Australian Yearling Sales, John waited several years to get himself into a position where he would be comfortable running another business. The time came in early 2008 and he was so impressed with what the Australian Racing and Breeding Industry had to offer, that he began to purchase yearlings to start this new chapter.

SHANE CHIPMAN

Born and raised with horses in his blood, Shane was photographed on his first pony when only three days old. His uncle ran cattle in Utah and imparted his vast horse knowledge onto Shane, setting him up for a future with horses before he could ride a bicycle.

Such was Shane's skill and ability; he was breaking cutting horses at 12 years of age. While completing High School in Utah, Shane continued his association with horses but turned his hand to thoroughbreds. Riding in races came naturally and he continued to be occupied with the family involvement in rodeo disciplines including roping.

Shane graduated and immediately headed off to the bright lights of California where he took up a role as a groom in a racing stable. He continued with his passion for racehorses through stints in Oklahoma and Texas breaking in youngsters. While working at Bell Hall Farm in Texas, he broke 226 horses in one year.

His home state of Utah was his next port of call where he took a brief break away from horses before meeting and starting with John when BC3 Thoroughbreds was born.

AARON CORBY

With racing heavily entrenched in his family, Aaron started off at a young age in the Melbourne stables of Hall of Fame Trainer T J Smith. This led to an involvement with Gai Waterhouse which saw him handle some outstanding Group 1 winning horses in the early 1990’s.

After concentrating on his studies in Accountancy at RMIT in Melbourne, he returned to the Racing Industry where he took up several differing positions within Racing Victoria Limited and the Australian Trainers’ Association.

In 2004 he took up the position of Racing Manager with Danny O’Brien Racing. During the following four years the stable tripled in size and produced six Group 1 wins. This period was able to provide Aaron with the contacts and experience to make the step up as General Manager for BC3 Australia.
